The Game
Rugged and fierce,
Like the wolf hunting it's prey.
Searching for the highest,
Then achieving only the best.
A champion without a belt,
A man whom everyone fears.
The desire burns within,
With a rage that drives him to new heights.
A constant climb to greatness,
In a business that is always ruthless.
And yet through all the pain,
He perseveres, moving steadily onward.
For when the bell tolls,
At the start of the competition,
And when the announcement has been made,
Everyone will ultimately know,
That it's time to PLAY THE GAME.
The Lost Soul
Lying on the sidewalk,
In a tattered raincoat and shabby hat
My approaching feet waken the man
Springing to his feet he begs for change
Crying out for a hand in food
Yet this proud man has a twinkle in his eyes
As he walks away head held high
As I could help him not this night
Again the scenery plays out every night
He looks and begs, smiling so proud
On this night he is offered a morsel
To fill his bellowing stomach
To nourish his aching soul
For he still cries deep inside
This man, this homeless character of the streets
A week or so later
In search of this wayward soul
I come to see a great surprise
He now helps those he once was associated
Fortunes have smiled upon this gent
But his money he does not keep
Helping those he lie in the streets with
Giving with pride from where he came
One Starry Night
It came to pass,
On one glorious night
In ole Bethlehem town
A tiny babe would be born
Mary and Joseph made the journey
So the world would rejoice
One starry night
Shepherds watched
As the star grew brighter
While there sheep moved about
Wonderment besought them
As they decided to follow the light
Into that holy town
On one Starry night
From the east the came
Bearing gifts for the tiny child
Three kings of renown
With their animals heavy laden
As they ventured into that town
Seeking the wisdom
That would impact the world
On that starry night
Jesus the baby is born
Lying in a manger of wood
The people gathered to behold
The life that would guide them
Into the future
From that heavenly eve
On that starry night
Vanilla Colored Sky
Upon the green grass she lies
Beneath the sun drenched summer skyline
Contemplating the next day
The beginning of a new chapter
Creating a bond of a lifetime
With someone she met several months back
Under a vanilla colored sky
Her day is here,
Nerves shock her reality
For her man waits at the alter
She dreams of how it might be
As the music signals her march
To the now and forever
Under a vanilla colored sky
The Quiet Princess
A wave of elegant perfume
Swept across all space and time
The sweet scent teases the senses
When she walks into the room.
She smiles softly
As an aura encased her soul
Like a halo over an angels head
She would be lifted gently
Now she enters a different realm
Living peacefully among her peers
Enchanted by gentle surroundings
Swaying to the songs of life
Always for herself...quietly through time
The Children
Alone in the world
Lost are the children.
Weeping to be heard all around,
From the hearts of those forgotten.
Bruised are the souls,
And the young one's left broken.
By uncaring adults,
Who seemingly condemn them for living?
Sweet is the face,
When someone caring steps in.
Helping them to another life,
Guiding the children along their pursuits.
They are the future,
Creators of the next inventions.
Minds that are strong, yet so young,
So God bless the Children...and show you care.
The Lady, A Star
On a day, not so long ago,
A child was born in the south.
The creator looked upon this girl,
And with a touch of his finger,
She received a gift,
That would be shared with the world.
She is a performer,
On the universal stage,
With a voice so pure,
The richness flows in the lyrics.
Her sweetness sweeps the hearts of fans,
Into the night, while she sings.
She is a star,
Rising like the Phoenix,
Until the summit has been reached.
Bright as the sun,
True to the meaning of life,
For her heart sings with her voice.
She is a princess,
A beauty that doesn't need the runway.
A woman whose prince,
May or may not be near.
Where a heart full of love,
Continues to beat so strong.
She is a woman,
Caring, Loving from deep within.
As she walks the stage,
Giving of herself nightly,
There is a time and space created,
For life before the heavenly stage.
An Illusive Dream
An entrance well lit
Into a room so elegant and vast.
Upon a staircase she stands,
Spiraling upwards, the lady ascends.
A dream remains closed,
Never ending or so it seems.
A lady so extremely lovely,
With her back still turned.
Is she in the future?
Or a past love now returned.
I await the dream to end,
Lying alone in the dark of the night,
And yet it plays out,
Night after night, not seeing her face.
This intrigue is so pleasing,
While the lady remains...
An illusive dream.
She's Gone
On a quiet street,
In a humble home, he cries alone
Wondering why she decided to go.
Across the ocean to work
He misses her head upon his chest,
As his heart plays there love song.
She's gone;
She walks the runways,
On the other side of the big pond.
Showing fashions, flashing her smile,
For the whole world to see.
She wishes she were with him again,
With her head upon his chest,
She's gone;
He walks alone,
Without her gentle hand in his.
Daily to the park across the street.
She is alone in Paris,
Wondering what he is doing,
During the time she is away.
She's gone, not for long
She gives up the glamour,
To be with the one at home.
Again she will lay her head on his chest,
As his heart plays there love song.
Heading home to his arms,
To live with him forever,
She's heading home.
He still cries alone,
Until the moment she walks in the door.
Loving kisses greet his lips,
As he brushes the hair from her eyes.
No longer will he be alone,
She's home,forever and ever.
The Soldier
Upon the battlefield he lies,
Wounded from a fight that has gone away.
He wonders about his family,
On this hot summer night,
And if he will see them again.
He prays as the chopper flies him to safety.
Where the doctors will make him whole again,
He doesn't cry, though he feels the urge,
And then a bright light hovers above.
An angel that smiles so bright.
A calming force enters the room,
As they prepare to remove the bullet,
That ravaged his person.
A voice that says not to worry,
For his life will be spared.
He dreams of his girl,
Waiting for his return,
And a family that misses him so.
His thoughts are of a barbeque,
A pig or a steak...
Now he awakes,
A nurse sponges his body.
He laughs at the sensation,
As he knows he will be home soon.
But he thinks of his buddies...
Fighting to keep democracy,
A team that he is a part of...
For he wants to fight again,
But his time is done...
He cries as he heads for home.
The soldier...
Lies on a hammock,
Angry at the war that take so long,
Hoping to see his buddies,
As he is called to action once again.
